The featured fashions included layered T-shirts, waffle long-sleeved mock-buttoned shirts, structured jackets in charcoal gray and large hobo bags in bright hues.
The show also featured scarves of different widths, premiere designer logos by Ed Hardy, the fur-lined hooded sweatshirts and denims, which was in a darker wash than those that were shown for spring and summer.
"I've always been interested in fashion. My mom's in fashion and was a fashion major at Vincennes [University]. She still works in fashion so I guess that's why I love it so much," Boyd said. "All of the clothes today were handpicked by FMA and the Buckle."
Buckle Inc. is a store at the Honey Creek Mall in Terre Haute.
FMA members and the Buckle gathered together to decide what pieces to send down the runway and the accompanying music.
Chris Jones, a senior textiles and apparel merchandising major, chose the music.
"I wanted to mix hip hop, punk and pop and fuse fashion and music together," he said.
He presented eclectic music from the artists Fergie, Junior Senior and Stereogram, as well as songs from the "Sex and the City" soundtrack.
"I think the credit can be given to the blockbuster hit 'Sex and the City,' that more people are interested in fashion than ever before," Jones said.
Robyn Lohse, a junior textiles and apparel merchandising major, handled the publicity for the event and chose the location.
Kristina Maurer, a sophomore textiles and apparel merchandising major and FMA member, was responsible for recruiting and training models to send down the runway.
( Paula Lowry is a junior political science major. She can be reached at sascamed@isugw.indstate.edu.)
